Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Serhiy Holovaty was elected a member of the Bureau of the Venice Commission, which is its main governing body.

The decision was made on December 11 at the 129th plenary meeting of the Venice Commission.

According to the charter of the Venice Commission, the Bureau is composed of seven members: the president, three vice-presidents and four other members of the commission..

At present, the updated composition of the Bureau of the Venice Commission is as follows: President - Representative from France;

three vice presidents - representatives from Iceland, Malta and Germany; four other commissioners - representatives from Bulgaria, USA, Switzerland and Ukraine. In total, the Commission has 62 member states.

Sergei Golovaty became a member of the Venice Commission in 1995. He chaired the PACE Monitoring Committee from 2008 to 2010.

He was a deputy of six convocations of the Verkhovna Rada and twice (1995 - 1997, 2005 - 2006) served as the Minister of Justice of Ukraine.
