US to allocate $ 155 million to support Ukraine's development - Cabinet of Ministers

The United States of America through the Agency for International Development (USAID) will provide Ukraine with an additional $ 155 million for development. The money will be directed to reforms and the fight against corruption and Russian aggression.

It is noted that the money will be directed to support four programs in Ukraine:.

Supporting economic growth and improving the health of Ukrainians - $ 34 million:.

supporting Ukraine's recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic by improving the quality of basic medical services for Ukrainians;

increasing transparency and expanding economic opportunities in the energy, agriculture and financial industries;

assisting in the development of the land market.

Improving anti-corruption measures - $ 14 million:.

supporting reforms and ensuring the protection of anti-corruption institutions;

reducing corruption in the healthcare sector and helping Ukraine to procure essential drugs to reduce informal payments from patients. Also ensuring access to quality medicines at a lower cost;

supporting the further development of e-government platforms that simplify citizens' access to services and optimize the process of receiving pensions, unemployment benefits, etc..

Countering Russian aggression - $ 63 million:.

protecting human rights and ensuring access to justice for Ukrainians affected by the aggression supported by the Kremlin in Crimea and Donbass;

reducing the energy and economic dependence of Ukraine on Russia by connecting to the energy network of Europe, as well as strengthening Ukrainian enterprises that operate in the East of the country;

expanding citizens' access to high-quality and objective information in order to combat disinformation, as well as supporting European integration and strengthening democratic processes in Ukraine.

Strengthening Democracy and Governance - $ 44 million:.

expanding judicial reform to develop a more independent system that guarantees respect for the rule of law and equal access to justice;

strengthening the newly united territorial communities and ensuring wider provision of quality services to residents to advance the decentralization reform;

encouraging youth leadership and innovation, as well as participating in building a democratic, pluralistic, European-oriented Ukraine.

In early April, the US Secretary of State confirmed support for Ukraine against the background of aggravation in Donbass.
