Azerbaijan extended closure of its borders

Azerbaijan extended the restrictions on entry and exit through the state border until May 31 established for the fight against Covid-19 coronavirus in the republic. This is stated in a statement circulated today, April 29, by the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan..

“The global situation with the Covid-19 pandemic was analyzed, and in order to prevent the spread of the virus in the country, the restriction on ground and air access to the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, with the exception of cargo and charter flights, was extended until May 31, 2020,” the headquarters explained.

Azerbaijan abolished from April 27 a number of restrictions that were envisaged when quarantine was introduced in connection with the spread of coronavirus. The activities of private educational and tutoring services resumed, the sale of books, newspapers, stationery, the work of a shop, tailors, the sale of perfumes, clothes, shoes, pawnshops were opened. The time allowed to exit the house is increased to three hours instead of the previous two. At the same time, the Cabinet under the Cabinet of Ministers warned of the possibility of re-tightening the regime in case of deterioration in the dynamics of coronavirus infection in the country.

As of April 29, 1717 cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in Azerbaijan, 22 patients diagnosed with Covid-19 died.



Recall, from March 24, Azerbaijan announced a special quarantine regime in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. According to the rules of the special regime, people over 65 are forbidden to leave home, in accordance with the law, the provision of social services to single people of this category of persons is provided.. It was forbidden to gather citizens in public places, including on the streets, boulevards, in parks and other places, in groups of more than 10 people. By decision of the government, the special quarantine regime was extended until May 4.
