The Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Nikolai Balan met with the General Commander of the National Republican Guard of Portugal.

The meeting took place on Wednesday, February 19, as part of the official visit of the NSU commander to Portugal.

The Ukrainian delegation got acquainted with the structure, basic functions and competencies of the structure, similar in its tasks to the National Guard of Ukraine.

Parties discussed areas of possible cooperation. The commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Nikolai Balan emphasized that it would be useful for NSU to exchange experience with Portuguese colleagues.

" Delegations demonstrated all areas of activity, uniforms, equipment of all types, samples of Portuguese guard equipment.

The division includes both law-enforcement groups - for quick response during mass events and ensuring public safety, as well as special-purpose and combat engineers, which conduct anti-terrorist events, search and rescue people during natural disasters, and the like, "

An open exercise was held at the Zamor National Stadium to ensure the maintenance of public order during public events.

NSU representatives also evaluated the operational center for coordination and response to events, which tracks the operational environment for the implementation of all types of activities..
