Ukraine, after the adoption and promulgation of the decision on the introduction of martial law, will inform the UN Secretary-General about the possibility of using weapons to protect against Russian aggression.

This was stated in a speech at an extraordinary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, reports Ukrinform.

“After the Verkhovna Rada’s decision to impose martial law and immediately after its publication in the media, we will notify the UN Secretary-General of the right of Ukraine to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter. Although, of course, we will try to resolve the situation according to Article 33 in a peaceful way, but we see that this is impossible with Russia, "said Klimkin..

He clarified that Ukraine, as a country that consistently adheres to the requirements of international law and the UN Charter, will report on the possibility of using weapons for its defense..
