German Chancellor Angela Merkel believes that the responsibility for the failure of the Treaty on Medium and Shorter-Range Missiles lies primarily with Moscow.
She said this on Tuesday in Berlin at a briefing with Danish counterpart Loka Rasmussen, according to Ukrinform.
"We know that Russia has not fulfilled the terms of this agreement for a long time," the chancellor said.
She recalled that the United States said it wanted to withdraw from the treaty in connection with this. “This, of course, is a topic that affects us as European members of NATO, because it’s about our security, and now it’s about discussing what we will do next,” Merkel said.
She and the Danish Prime Minister discussed this topic at the talks.. Other topics include Brexit, European security issues, refugee crisis.
