The anti-terrorist group of the Ministry of Interior of Slovakia has filed an accusation against its citizen Mario R. for participation in hostilities in eastern Ukraine as part of the hybrid forces of the Russian Federation.

According to the investigation, the accused joined the pro-Kremlin militants in June 2015 and at this time continues to fight in the Donbas against the Ukrainian military.
In this regard, a Slovak mercenary is accused of participating in "hostilities as part of an organized armed group in the territory of another state", for which, according to the country's legislation, he faces imprisonment for a term of two to eight years.
It is noted that this is the first case when a citizen of Slovakia was accused of participating in the war in the Donbass.
