North and South Korea have begun to dismantle 20 posts located on the fortified border between the two countries. Already, soldiers and military equipment were withdrawn from there, the South Korean agency Renhap reported, citing the Ministry of Defense in Seoul..

Thus, both Korean states fulfill the agreement concluded at the end of October by their military leaders. It assumes that 10 border posts will be demolished in the demilitarized buffer zone on each side of the border, another post will remain there..

According to Ronhap, the DPRK contains about 160 border posts along the rest of the 250-kilometer border, and South Korea - about 60. The long-term goal is to eliminate all of them..

The only place on the Korean-Korean border, where soldiers of both countries stand directly against each other, is the border village of Panmunjom, where negotiations are held on issues relating to the two countries of the Korean Peninsula. After the withdrawal of weapons and the demolition of guard posts there remain 35 unarmed representatives of each side.
