The draft law on criminal responsibility for the citizens of the aggressor country for illegally crossing the border, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, is a significant step in protecting the borders of Ukraine.

This was announced on the air of ObozTV by Assistant Head of the State Border Service of Ukraine Oleg Slobodian. He explained how the new law will act.

“As for the draft law, this is a really significant step in protecting our borders and an important argument for border guards in countering any illegal actions at the state border,” he said..

"For example, we take a citizen of any country who is denied entry into the territory of Ukraine. If this citizen, after signing the bill, appears at the checkpoint, for example at the airport, has a valid passport document, but we find out that he is denied entry into the territory of Ukraine, we simply do not allow him into Ukraine without any criminal consequences " - declared Slobodyan.

As the representative of the State Border Service explained, if a person who is denied entry to Ukraine is trying to cross the border outside the checkpoint, or at the checkpoint with forged documents, then he will be detained and criminal liability will be applied to him.

"At the moment, they are prohibited from entering the territory of Ukraine for illegally crossing the border through closed checkpoints. If they now, having a ban, will try to illegally enter the territory of Ukraine, then the sanctions specified in this article will be applied to them. If they try to enter, legally speaking, legally, we simply will not let them through the border, but we will not delay to initiate a criminal case, "he added.

Also Slobodian assured that the State Border Service has a lot of information about violators.

"We have enough information in our bases that we use, we also have access to a certain amount to the bases of other law enforcement agencies within the framework of the interdepartmental system" Arkan ". We can also request information from representatives of law enforcement agencies of those countries with which we have the appropriate level of cooperation, first of all, talking about EU countries.. There is a lot of information about the people that interest us, "he said..
