Obolonsky district court of Kiev calls ex-president Viktor Yanukovych to speak with the last word on the treason case.

This was announced on Tuesday by the presiding judge Vladislav Devyatko, the "Ukrainian Truth".

According to him, the court repeatedly summoned Yanukovych to participate in the court session, both through the publication of communications and through letters by mail to all known addresses of his possible residence, including in Russia.

At the same time Devyatko noted that, according to the law, Yanukovych had to make his last speech before the statements of the defenders, but did not do it.

"The court reports that despite any statements by the defense, both in the past and in today's meeting, despite any actions by the defense that the court found to be an abuse of the right to defense, the court has always stood in the position of securing all the rights of the accused Yanukovych Viktor Fedorovich, "- said the presiding judge.

He added that therefore the court will again summon the runaway president to the meeting and grant him the right to speak with the last words, including by videoconference, but without the involvement of the competent bodies of the Russian Federation.

Devyatko noted that Yanukovych is expected on October 12 at 10. 00.

He also said that defenders should complete their debates from October 1 to 10.
