President of the United States Donald Trump warned that Russia and Iran would make a serious mistake if they support Syrian dictator Bashar Assad in his intention to attack Idlib province.

Idlib is the last large territory that is under the control of the opposition forces and Damascus is interested in establishing at least formal control over it. In this approach, Assad can count on the full support of his patrons. Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov in his recent interview to Russian television spoke of the "fist of terrorists" in Idlib and that the situation in this province will be one of the main issues in the working order of the Russian president.

For Trump, this situation is not acceptable. Firstly, because it can predictably lead to a humanitarian catastrophe in Syria - and against her background the American president will look like a "weakling" who is not able to prevent such tragedies.

Secondly, because the capture of Assad's troops by Idlib can lead to the strengthening of Iranian positions in Syria - and this is a matter of principle for Trump's security of Israel.

Thirdly, because when Syrian troops attack Idlib, they are quite capable of using chemical weapons, moreover, they do not hide their intentions. The Foreign Minister of the regime Walid Muallem has already said that the volunteers of the humanitarian organization White Helmets kidnapped 44 children in order to simulate a chemical attack. In the translation from the bandit language of Assad and his henchmen, this means that the decision to chemical attack was taken and the task of Muallem - even before the beginning of the operation to come up with an acceptable version for Damascus. The fact that no one believes in such nonsense, except Putin and the Iranian ayatollahs, Assad does not care.

A Trump - interested, because the use of chemical weapons - the very "red line", which the dictator should in no case overstep.

Therefore, the military interference of Americans with the aim of preventing the offensive of Assad's troops or at least to minimize its consequences is quite realistic.

The question is, what will be the consequences of such a blow for the Syrian troops and their allies and how will events develop after such a strike. We must understand that in Syria - unlike Ukraine - Russia and the United States are always on the verge of a direct clash. Putin must either retreat in order to give Trump the opportunity to save face, or to accept the new serious consequences of confrontation with the United States.

Despite the fact that the adequacy of the Russian president in making decisions raises serious doubts, he has not yet gone so far.
