Georgian President Georgi Margvelashvili has blamed Russia for separating Abkhazia and South Ossetia from Georgia. "Russia by means of a hybrid war separated two of its regions from the central government of Georgia" back in 1991-1992, Margvelashvili said on Tuesday, August 7, at a meeting in Tbilisi with the Foreign Ministers of Poland, Lithuania and Latvia and the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine. "We should not be afraid to call things by their own names - what Russia did and does against a sovereign state is a war between Russia and Georgia, this is aggression, it's an occupation and this is the violation of all international norms," ??the DW quotes the president.

On the same day, in the suburb of Tbilisi, Mukhatgverdi, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, together with members of the government and representatives of friendly states, laid flowers at a military cemetery in memory of those killed in the August 2008 war. Bakhtadze noted that exactly 10 years ago, the Georgian people again faced the Russian open military aggression, according to the "Novosti-Georgia".

"There was a war, followed by the occupation of two inalienable regions of Georgia ... The Russian Federation occupied 5 gorges and more than 100 villages under Georgia's control," the prime minister said, noting that the occupation of the Abkhaz and Tskhinvali regions is still going on.

As the prime minister noted, against the backdrop of daily provocations for ten years, Georgia was able and proved that it is a European, democratic state and it can achieve success despite the occupation of 20 percent of the country's territories.

On the occasion of the anniversary of the war in Georgia, the Council of Europe (CoE) recalled the support of the sovereignty of this country.

In her statement, the head of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Maria Burich noted that the conflict in Georgia "unfortunately has not been settled yet". "I want in this connection to reiterate my unequivocal support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders. My thoughts are addressed to those who suffered as a result of the conflict, in particular to the numerous refugees, "Buric said..
