The situation with Washington's sanctions against Moscow at the current stage "will remain as it is". This was stated by US President Donald Trump in the White House during a joint press conference with the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Italy, Giuseppe Comte.
In the course of communication with journalists, the Italian prime minister first touched upon this topic, pointing out that the refusal of sanctions "can not be imagined".
Trump's comment is made against a backdrop of continuing criticism of the White House chief for his position during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki on July 16.
During the press conference with Conte, the US president also again criticized Germany for taking part in the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline and insufficiently high, in his opinion, defense spending for NATO.
On Friday, July 27, US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin said that the Trump administration is studying the possibility of waiving penalties against the Russian aluminum company "Rusal", imposed because of its links with businessman Oleg Deripaska.
The businessman was included in the US sanctions list after the publication of the "Kremlin report". In May, Deripaska announced the withdrawal from the board of directors of "Rusal".
