According to the source, it was a UAV model "Outpost" of the Russian military space forces. He carried out reconnaissance over the territory controlled at that time by insurgent group militants fighting against the Assad regime.

On July 11 about four o'clock in the afternoon Israeli airspace from Syria was invaded by an unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle. On it, several Patriot rockets were fired, one of which knocked down the drone.
The wreckage fell on the territory of the kibbutz ha-On on the shore of the Kinneret, writes Channel 9.
IDF spokesman Major-General Ronen Manelis said that the aircraft was observed for about 15 minutes - from the moment he flew into the buffer zone on the border with Syria, then moved to the Jordanian territory and then crossed the Israeli border. The intention to bring down the drone was notified to the Russian side.
