The Kremlin promises to consider the request of the mother of Sentsov to pardon her son

The request of mother of Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov Ludmila to Russian President Vladimir Putin about pardon will be considered when the appeal goes to the Kremlin. This was reported to journalists by Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov, Gordon said..

Peskov stressed that Ludmila Sentsova's appeal will not be left without attention. The request to pardon Putin was also filed by Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland.

Sentsov was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment in the Russian Federation on August 25, 2015. The Russian court found him guilty of creating and directing the terrorist community in the Crimea, attempting to acquire explosive devices and illegal storage of firearms and ammunition, two terrorist acts and the preparation of yet another terrorist act.

Sentzov did not admit his guilt.

On May 14, 2018, the director announced an unlimited hunger strike in the colony of the city of Labytnangi, Tyumen region. He demanded the release of 64 Ukrainian political prisoners, but he did not include himself in the list.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Sentsov himself must initiate a decision on the issue of his pardon. The lawyer of the political prisoner Dmitry Dinze stated that the Ukrainian film director will not do this.
