Travelers of "visa-free countries" will be able to pass the check before arriving in the European Union, using the European system of authorization and travel information (ETIAS). This is reported by the press service of the European Parliament.
As Radio Liberty reports, this idea can be implemented already in 2021. European parliamentarians plan to consider this issue today, July 5.
As the European MEP from Hungary King Gal said, this check will not create any problems for permanent travelers.
"This will be a simple process. just an online check, which they can pass before the trip to the EU, "she said..
Citizens of "visa-free countries" will have to fill out the electronic form before traveling. In the application, among other things, there will be questions on criminal cases in the past or visits by applicants to conflict zones. This will allow the authorities to determine whether one of the travelers can pose a threat before arriving in the EU. If there are such suspicions, travelers may refuse entry.
According to the project, "authorization" will cost 7 euros, the entry permit will be valid for three years (no need to apply and pay a fee before each trip). Authorization will be free for people under the age of 18 and over 70.
Now there is not enough information about people from countries that do not require a visa when traveling to the EU. Such travelers are checked on the Schengen border. The decision to allow or prohibit entry is approved by border guards.
