Armed forces of Libya have caught one of the leaders of al-Qaeda Abu Safyan bin Kama. This, as reported by Trend, is reported on the official page of the Libyan army in Facebook.

The terrorist and his accomplice Muhammad Idris al-Mansouri was detained during a special operation of the Libyan army in Derna in the north of Libya.

According to Al-Arabiya, 59-year-old bin Kama is considered one of the most authoritative leaders of Al-Qaeda,.

During Osama bin Laden's stay in Sudan, bin Kamu was his personal driver. After the capture of US intelligence services, he served his sentence in Guantanamo Bay prison and was extradited to Libya in 2007. Four years later, he managed to escape from the prison of Abu Salim when Tripoli was captured by rebels.

On Thursday it became known that the National Libyan army is completing the operation to liberate the city of Derna. The commander of the forces Khalifa Haftar announced its beginning in May of this year.
