Kernes met with the ambassador of Holland

Kharkiv Mayor Gennady Kernes today, June 13, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine Eduard Huks.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues - from the possibility of cooperation of private business companies and utility companies with their Dutch counterparts to the socio-political situation in Kharkov, the work of the city authorities with settlers.

Gennady Kernes, in particular, told the Ambassador about the city's cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank and the World Bank.

"We have serious projects with them for hundreds of millions of dollars. Recently, agreements have been signed to finance the continuation of the construction of the Kharkov Metro, the purchase of a new rolling stock, the construction of a modern waste-processing complex. We are also working towards the modernization of heat and water supply systems, processing of sludge, energy efficiency of budget buildings. I also note that in the process of budgetary decentralization, Kharkiv began to receive additional financial resources that are directed to improve the living conditions of citizens, "said Gennady Kernes.



Edward Hooks stressed that Kharkiv and the Netherlands have been associated with special relations since the Euro 2012 football days, as well as in connection with the tragedy with the Boeing of Malaysian airlines shot down in 2014, when the city helped to send the bodies of the dead to their homeland, including almost 200 Dutch citizens. The ambassador expressed hope that in the future the cooperation will continue in many other areas that could bring mutually beneficial benefits - water purification, logistics, transport, agriculture, etc..
