The Constitutional Court decided to revoke the immunity of people's deputies

The Constitutional Court of Ukraine recognized as a constitutional bill on the abolition of parliamentary immunity. The decision on the case was taken on Wednesday, the text of the court's decision promulgated on June 7, Ukrainian News informs referring to a source in court. The case was examined in closed mode.

This was also reported in Facebook by a People's Deputy from the People's Front faction Leonid Yemets. "The Constitutional Court has allowed to cancel the inviolability of the deputies," he wrote.

It is reported that the judge-rapporteur was Natalia Shaptala. This is the bill No. 6773 on amendments to the Constitution on the abolition of parliamentary immunity, which was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada in the summer of 2017.

The draft law proposes to exclude from the Constitution. 1 and 3 items.

80, which refers to the immunity of parliamentarians, as well as the impossibility of bringing them to criminal liability without the consent of the Rada.

For consideration in the parliament, the draft law should receive the conclusion of the CCA on the conformity of art.. 157 and 158 of the Constitution, which mention the impossibility of amending the Basic Law during a military or state of emergency. In addition, it is stated that changes can not restrict the rights and freedoms of citizens and be aimed at violating the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
