Spanish King Felipe VI on Saturday took the oath of socialist Pedro Sanchez as the new head of the government, reports Spanish television.

Decree on the appointment of Sanchez as prime minister, King Felipe VI signed the day before. The document is published in the Saturday issue of the "Official State Gazette" of Spain.

It is expected that in the near future Sanchez will arrive at the palace of Moncloa, where the official residence of the Prime Minister of Spain.
