Estonian Defense Forces to Participate in Major Military Exercises in Latvia

The headquarters of the First and Second Infantry Brigades of the Estonian Defense Forces, as well as the representatives of these units, will take part in the large Saber Knight exercise held next week at the training ground in Adazi, Latvia.

From May 15th to 25th, the annual international military exercise Saber Knight 2018, organized by the Danish Division. The aim of the exercise is to develop and improve the skills of staff in the planning of operations and implementation within the command structure of the Danish Division.

The exercises will be attended by representatives of Denmark, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, as well as the United States, Britain, Canada and Germany - a total of almost 1,000 troops, notes postimees. ee.



According to the legend of the exercises, the servicemen of the allied countries are making joint efforts to repel aggression against the Baltic countries by a conventional enemy, a fictitious country called "Botnia".

The first infantry brigade of the Defense Forces has been conducting joint exercises with the Danes since 2009, the Second Infantry Brigade has been integrated into the training cycle since 2017.

Last year, the Saber Knight exercises took place in Estonia, and in 2016 - in Lithuania.
