About 700 people, not citizens of Hungary, received in an illegal way Hungarian passports and appropriated the identity of the true holders of passports.

About 85 people from this group tried to enter the US, and 65 people entered the Hungarian and US visa-free travel program. As of October 2017, 30 people remained in the United States, despite efforts to find and deport them.

It is reported that the violators received authentic passports on the program of the Hungarian government, which allows ethnic Hungarians who live outside the country to quickly obtain citizenship.
