On Tuesday, May 8, the US Senate Intelligence Committee published the declassified part of the report, prepared with the participation of the Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Security Agency. There is evidence of the Kremlin's interference in the course of the presidential elections in the United States in 2016.

Thus, the authors of the report indicate that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally ordered the launch of a campaign to influence the presidential race in the United States in 2016. The aim of Moscow was to undermine society's belief in the democratic process in the US, to discredit Trump Hillary Clinton's rival and to reduce her chances of winning.

Moscow's campaign to intervene in the American elections was multifaceted and coordinated, it was conducted with the participation of state media (such as RT and Sputnik) and agencies, hackers, paid users of social networks ("trolls"), bloggers and special services.

Related to the Russian government, hackers also carried out cyber attacks on election commissions. In particular, cybercriminals searched for vulnerabilities in databases and attempted hacking, in a small number of cases successful.

The authors add that Russia was engaged in intelligence activities to influence its interests in the elections. These actions began no later than early 2016 and were continued until the voting day on November 8.

As is known, the full report on Russian interference in the elections in the US is top secret, as it indicates sources of information, as well as the methods of work of the US special services.

But the conclusions contained in the declassified version of the report are identical to the conclusions of the full version of the document.

US intelligence agencies since January 2017 are investigating the case of possible Russian interference in presidential elections in October 2016, suspecting that Trump's team has ties to Moscow. Russian authorities deny involvement in US affairs. Trump himself repeatedly said that he does not have any connections with Moscow.
