Representatives of the US Department of Defense accused China of sending a powerful laser to US military aircraft flying over Djibouti.

Several intelligence sources report that Chinese military forces are suspected of using a combat laser in the area of ??the new Chinese military base in Djibouti, according to a recent publication by Jane's Defense Weekly.

The alleged incidents reinforce US concerns about the establishment of China's first foreign military base near the largest US military base in Africa, as well as about China's growing reputation as a world military power.

China has not yet responded to the accusations, but in the past, he expressed dissatisfaction with the foreign military reconnaissance aircraft flying over the base in Djibouti, according to sources familiar with the situation.

The US armed forces last month published a warning on the Federal Aviation Administration's website for pilots, urging them to exercise "utmost caution".

According to the Pentagon, in recent weeks there have been several incidents. Among other things, two American pilots received minor eye injuries due to laser exposure.

This issue threatens to lead to further aggravation of relations between the two countries. The Trump Administration imposed duties on a number of Chinese goods and threatened to introduce new. In addition, new restrictions have been imposed on the export of American technological goods to China.
