The Russian government is experiencing a deep crisis right now. For the first time the regime has faced an internal force that it can not effectively resist, writes the correspondent of NV Ivan Yakovina.

The vertical of power created by Putin with the help of a network of repressive bodies successfully suppresses the centers of disobedience in any sphere - from politics and economy to the media and street protests. One of the main achievements of this system was the formation of almost complete unanimity among the citizens of Russia on a wide range of socially and politically significant topics.

Non-resistance of society unleashes power for any abuses and even crimes. Unanimity is an incredibly important resource. The Collective "Ministry of Truth", which includes the special subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB, the Prosecutor's Office and the courts. But the main structure of this "ministry" - Roskomnadzor (RKN). The agency, whose main task is to fight dissent on the Internet, mop up independent information sites, catch people who are critical information about the authorities, and prevent the opposition from spreading their ideas.

However, one of the main tasks of the "Ministry of Truth" - obtaining access to private correspondence of Russians - has long remained unfulfilled. Social networks and messengers are extremely reluctant to part with personal data of users. The State Duma even passed a special law obliging to disclose all this information. With small messengers and RKN resources coped quickly. They did not have the financial or technical capacity to fight the state. The popular Russian social network VKontakte by force was taken away from its creator - "Russian Zuckerberg" by Pavel Durov. He was forced to leave the country.

With the success of ILV, appetites also grew. The bureaucrats do not dare to bother with Facebook, so in 2017 they took up the new creation of Durov seriously - the most convenient, technologically advanced and secure messenger Telegram. In non-free countries like Russia and Iran, it has become an indispensable attribute of freedom of information. Corresponding in the "cart", as dubbed the messenger in Russia, a person can be sure that the "authorities" do not read.

Due to the resistance of society, the attack on Telegram dragged on for many months. But in April 2018, the Moscow court still decided to block. ILV took under the visor and rushed to perform. And then something began that is very strange. Telegram did not turn off. Roskomnadzor employees began blocking the addresses through which the social network was connected to the external Internet. But Telegram switched to other. ILV blocked them. Telegram again left the "chase". Roskomnadzor packed the addresses with blocks. But even this did not help.

Telegram continued to work, however, because of the "carpet blocking" of the ILV, other Russian sites and services were showered, with no connection to the "cart". Airports, banks, payment systems, Viber service, and countless people and companies suffered.

RKN management accused Durov that he "took the Russian Internet hostage". And it became obvious to everyone that Putin's power vertical for the first time in its history collided with the enemy stronger than her. The Kremlin loses to them and the war started. And not a bloc of NATO or the US, but one particular Russian, whose name everyone knows.

Paul Durova is not just considered a visionary and a person living in the future time. Already after the start of locks, the specialists found out one important detail. He created Telegram in such a way that it can be disabled in Russia only together with all Google and Amazon services. This is not equivalent, but very close to disabling the entire Internet.

Before ILV there is a difficult choice: to persuade Google, Amazon and Apple to fight against Telegram, to disconnect these Internet giants from the Russian Internet or to admit defeat in the war against Telegram.

The first option is extremely unlikely. The second is unpleasant: disconnecting the Russian Federation from the main Internet companies of the world will be tantamount to dropping an atomic bomb on the Russian Internet. The third option so far seems most viable. And then there is one important point. If it does, it will be the first victory of the Russian opposition and civil society over Putin's vertical.

Prior to this, thinking Russians have never won power. Strictly speaking, before they did not have any ways to effectively fight.

Now there is something to fight (in various ways bypassing the locks) and there is for that - the right to privacy of correspondence is one of the basic.

The battle for the "cart" began. On the side of the past - the whole power of the state apparatus and access to the "switch". The future is based on intellect, technology and civil solidarity. From the outcome of the battle in many respects will depend on whether Russia will ever become the country of Durov or forever remain the country of Putin.
