"The campaign for the spread of fake news continues: Russia called the British queen a malicious drunkard and said that the Prime Minister was addicted to cognac," reports The Sun journalist David Wooding.

Vladimir Putin's ally, Senator Alexei Pushkov, said that the queen treats alcohol as a ceremony. He told state television: "Before dinner, she drinks a cocktail with gin and one more, based on wine with ice and lemon. After eating, she drinks a glass of wine with a chocolate bar. She also drinks dry martini. At the end of the day, she likes to drink cold champagne ".

Pushkov found an "expert" to show that Theresa May often drinks brandy. "According to Elena Denisover (as in the original), this is evident from the fact that the Prime Minister holds a glass not for a leg, but for a bowl, warming the contents," reports The Sun.

"In connection with this propaganda attack, the diplomatic scandal between Britain and Russia has fallen to an even lower level," the correspondent says..

According to diplomats from the Foreign Ministry, the slander is intended to discredit Britain's statement that Russia was trying to kill Sergei Skripal and his daughter.

Parliamentarian from the Conservative Party, Bernard Jenkins, said that absurd statements further devalue Putin's attempts to avoid responsibility. "Everyone knows that Her Majesty is a model of decency and impeccability and that Theresa May is famous for her sincerity and self-discipline," he told The Sun.
