The Supreme Court of the Crimea, controlled by the Kremlin, on April 4 extended the arrest to the figurant of the "case of Ukrainian saboteurs" Evgeny Panov for another 6 months, the Crimea reports.. Realities.

Judge Andrei Paliy decided to hold the hearing in closed session.

The first substantive meeting is scheduled for April 16.

In February, the brother of the accused, Igor Kotelyanets, reported that Russian security officials "forced" Panov to go on a deal with the investigation.

In August 2016, the Russian FSB detained a group of "Ukrainian saboteurs" in the annexed Crimea, allegedly preparing terrorist acts on the peninsula. The detainees were kept for some time in the Moscow Lefortovo detention center, then returned to the Crimea.

Russian special services say that the detainees Evgeny Panov and Andrei Zakhtey were members of a "sabotage group" that supposedly planned to commit terrorist attacks on the sites of the tourist and social infrastructure of the peninsula.

Ukrainian authorities deny Russian accusations against Ukrainians and called them "provocation" of Russian special services.

Earlier it was reported that Zakhtey signed a pre-trial agreement with the investigation. One of the conditions for signing the agreement on the part of the investigation was Zakhtei's refusal from an attorney for an agreement. Evgeny Panov did not admit blame and refused to deal with the investigation.
