Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Sven Mikser said that Estonia condemns the organization of presidential elections in Russia in the occupied Crimea and does not recognize their result. This is reported on the agency's website.

"Four years ago, the Russian Federation held a referendum on the territory of Ukraine, after which, on March 18, the Crimea was illegally annexed to Russia.

We condemn the illegal annexation, committed four years ago by Russia, which ignored the Constitution of Ukraine and international treaties. Crimea remains part of Ukraine, "the statement says..

The Estonian Foreign Ministry said that the Russian occupation forces violate international rules after annexation: the local population is called to the Russian army, local residents are forced to accept Russian citizenship, they take away property, restrict freedom of speech and freedom of religion.
