The relevant document was adopted by the upper chamber of the Dutch parliament, the Lower House voted for the law as early as 2017, local media outlets.

The author of this innovation was Pia Dijkstra. It is noted that every adult citizen who is not registered as a donor will receive a letter asking if he wants to donate his organs after death.

Donors can decide for themselves whether they will donate their organs or not.

Also, they can independently identify a specific person who will be allowed to make a decision on the donation in the event of death of the person completing the questionnaire.

Those who do not respond to two letters with questionnaires will automatically be considered organ donors, but may at any time change their status.

We add that a similar system exists in Belgium and Spain.

As previously reported in URA-Inform, in the Egyptian capital Cairo, law enforcement officers noticed a gang of medics and their intermediaries involved in the sale of donor organs.
