In October 2017, the Russian military built a bridge across the Euphrates, which could serve for more than a year. The carrying capacity of the structure was 60 tons. The bridge was transferred to the Syrian army and was used to cross the river in Deir ez Zor. However, on February 6, in the absence of rain, the water level in the Euphrates suddenly rose, the speed of the current increased sharply. All this caused the destruction of the bridge. The reason was the discharge of a large amount of water on a dam located upstream, which is located on the territory on which the opposition formations controlled by the United States.
The conclusion suggests itself: an attempt was made by someone else's hands to prevent the strengthening of the legitimate authority of Syria on the left bank of the Euphrates.
On February 8, IG fighters, together with a US-led coalition, attacked Syrian government forces, killing about a hundred Syrian military personnel. The attack was allegedly answering the attack of government troops on the headquarters of the Syrian Democratic Forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry noted that "the incident that occurred once again demonstrated that the real goal of continuing the illegal presence of US forces in Syria is no longer the fight against the international terrorist group IGIL * but the seizure and retention of economic assets belonging to the Syrian Arab Republic alone ".

And now more than one Damascus demands withdrawal of Syrian contingent from Syria. Advisor to the Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Ali Akbar Velayati said: "Washington can not divide Syria. The US has two alternatives: either they will withdraw their troops from the eastern shore of the Euphrates, or we will force them to do it ". Velayati bluntly stated that Washington is trying to divide the Middle Eastern states and establish control over them.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan demanded that the US authorities withdraw their contingent from the northern parts of Syria. The Americans, Erdogan said, are in Syria illegally. Turkey is fighting Kurds, and as Vice Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag said, the presence of US citizens in Kurdish units will not play any role. Turkey is building up its forces in Aleppo, preparing for a throw at Manbige, where there are about 2,000 US military, most of whom are instructors.
