The chairman of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, Miroslav Lajcak, called on all participants in the conflicts to cease fire during the Olympic Games in South Korean Pyeongchang, according to General 112.
"I appeal to all member states with a solemn appeal to demonstrate their commitment to the Olympic Truce in connection with the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games of 2018 in Pyeongchang and to take concrete measures at the local, national, regional and global levels to promote and strengthen a culture of peace.
I also appeal to all participants in the current armed conflicts in the world to reach a decisive agreement on a genuine mutual ceasefire for the duration of the Olympic Truce, thus creating an opportunity to settle the differences by peaceful means, "said Lajcak.
