The European Union imposed sanctions against seven high-ranking officials of Venezuela

It is noted that such a decision was made because the political, social and economic situation in Venezuela continues to worsen.

The Council decided to impose sanctions on seven officials holding official posts with immediate effect.

These people participate in the non-observance of democratic principles and the rule of law, as well as in violation of human rights.

Sanctions provide for travel ban and asset freeze in EU countries. Such restrictive measures are aimed at promoting the development of democratic common solutions that can ensure political stability in the country and enable them to meet the pressing needs of the population.

As previously reported in URA-Inform, the Council of the European Union approved the European program of the Permanent Structured Security and Defense Cooperation.
