The PACE winter session opens in Strasbourg on Monday

The agenda includes debates on various issues, speeches by high-ranking officials, election of the PACE president and the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights.

So, according to the agenda, voting will be held today and the new president of PACE will be named, debates will be held on the growth of Islamophobia, anti-Semitism and xenophobia in Europe.

On Tuesday, January 23, Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland will address the PACE, the first round of the election of the new CE Commissioner for Human Rights and ECHR judges, a debate on the protection and promotion of regional and minority languages, which will result in PACE voting on the resolution and recommendations. Also, the Crown Princess of Denmark will address the PACE and the report on the humanitarian consequences of the war in Ukraine will be heard. On this report debates will be held and the resolution and recommendations will be voted on.

On Wednesday, January 24, there will be a second round of the election of the CE Commissioner for Human Rights and ECHR judges, a debate on the foundations of modern sports management, effective football management, the speeches of the Armenian President, the Prime Minister of Denmark. There will also be an ad hoc committee meeting.

On Thursday, January 25, the annual report of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Neil Muiznieks, will be heard, a debate will be held on the protection of children in armed conflicts, the result of which will be a resolution, the parliamentarians will address the President of Austria.

On the last day of the session, on January 26, there will be a debate on two topics: the legal immunity of international organizations and the strengthening of international regulation against the sale of torture.
