The Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova, Andrian Candu, who by the decision of the Constitutional Court fulfills the duties of the President of the country signed the law on combating "Russian propaganda", he will come into force in the near future after publication in the "Official Monitor".

The law on amending the Code on Television and Radio was immediately adopted by the parliament in two readings on December 7, 2017. It provides for a ban on the retransmission in Moldova of information, information-analytical, political and military broadcasts from countries that have not ratified the European Convention on Transfrontier Television. The law covers the programs of Russian television channels, which are relayed in Moldova.

Moldovan President Igor Dodon categorically refused to promulgate this law, which he regarded as "antidemocratic". Dodon returned the document to parliament on December 21, but deputies of the parliamentary majority on December 22 re-adopted it in the same edition, without taking into account the opinion of the president. Dodon again rejected the law, although by law he should promulgate it after re-submission. As a result, the Constitutional Court of Moldova dismissed Dodon from office and transferred presidential powers to the chairman of the Parliament, Candu.

Andrian Kandu on January 10 also signed decrees on the appointment of two vice-premiers and five ministers. On the post of Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, former Vice-Speaker of the Parliament Yuri Lyanke was appointed. The vice-premier for reintegration, responsible for the settlement in Transnistria, was Christina Lesnik, who worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration appointed Tudor Ulyanovski, who had previously been the Ambassador of Moldova to Switzerland.

The Minister of Economy and Infrastructure was businessman Kirill Gaburic, who held the post of prime minister for four months in 2015. The Minister of Health, Labor, Social Protection and Family appointed a doctor Svetlana Chebotar, who served as director of the Republican Center for Blood Transfusion.

Liviu Volkonovich, the Minister of Agriculture and Food, became the rector of the State Agrarian University. The former chairman of the Constitutional Court, Alexander Tanase, was again the Minister of Justice of Moldova.
