About this on his page in Twitter reported the chairman of the Nemtsov Foundation Vladimir Kara-Murza. According to him, at the first meeting this year the City Council of Washington unanimously approved in the first reading the bill 22-539.

In addition, a separate decision by the City Council of Washington unanimously voted for the accelerated procedure for the adoption of the bill on Boris Nemtsov Square in front of the Russian Embassy. Renaming will come into force by February 27.

The adoption of the second bill, which is of an "extraordinary" nature, will bring the date of renaming closer, Kara-Murza said, adding that the urgent bill will come into force ten days later, on January 19, but the new plates will be closed before the official opening ceremony scheduled for the anniversary day murders of Nemtsov.

After that, the address of the Russian embassy will be double - "Boris Nemtsov Plaza - Wisconsin Avenue". The explanatory note to the bill also states that in the case of "symbolic renaming" a new name is added to the official.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, the famous Russian oppositionist Boris Nemtsov was killed in the center of Moscow on the night of February 28, 2015. On July 13, the Moscow District Military Court found five defendants guilty of murdering the politician and sentenced them for a term of 11 to 20 years in a strict-security prison colony. According to the investigation, the alleged customer and organizer of the crime is the former officer of the battalion "North" Ruslan Mukhudinov.
