The US and Canada organize a meeting of foreign ministers in Vancouver about the situation around North Korea. On Wednesday, December 20, at a joint press conference in Ottawa, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Canadian Foreign Minister Hristia Freeland.
The meeting is scheduled for January 16. It will be attended by representatives of South Korea, Japan, India and Sweden, reports dpa.
It is expected that foreign ministers of countries whose troops took part in the Korean War of 1950-53 as part of the UN mission - that is, Australia, Belgium, Great Britain, Colombia, Ethiopia, France, Greece, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, The Philippines, South Africa, Thailand and Turkey.
Rex Tillerson said on December 13 that the US is ready to negotiate with North Korea without preconditions. He suggested that the DPRK authorities meet and start developing a road map. US President Donald Trump later announced that Washington was already ready for talks with Pyongyang, but the dialogue could begin only when the DPRK showed its readiness to end its nuclear program.
