The future head of the Austrian government, Sebastian Kurtz, promised not to leave the old course for EU sanctions against Russia, Deutsche Welle reports..

However, the chairman of the right-populist Austrian Freedom Party (APS) Heinz-Christian Strahe stated that he personally would have liked if the sanctions against the Russian Federation had been canceled. However, if in the EU most do not want this, then one should follow the majority, concluded Strarae.

"We remain in the EU. But this does not mean that we can not criticize the EU, "said Strahe, who will serve in the new government as vice-chancellor.

Kurtz also noted that Vienna will insist on increasing the weight of individual EU member states in order to deprive Brussels of leverage on individual sectors.
