According to Pentagon chief Jason Matthies, Washington is optimistic about the possibility of cooperation to normalize the situation in Afghanistan. In addition, the negotiation process on this issue may begin as early as 2018, but until this time, no specific agreements have been reached with Moscow. The experience of conducting military operations in Afghanistan may be needed, so that the central government could regain control over the mountain areas of the state.

"I hope that Russia wants to cooperate with us on Afghanistan. It's all for now, I have nothing to add, "- notes Mattis.

As reported in "URA-Inform," recently in the southern province of Zabul, in Afghanistan, militants of the terrorist organization "Taliban" attacked a police checkpoint.
