Russia's creation of a powerful military infrastructure near the western borders may be aimed at preparing for war not with Ukraine, but with a possible confrontation with NATO.

About this in a blog on the "Observer" wrote a Russian military columnist, journalist Alexander Golts.

At the same time, he stressed that the deployment of elite Russian army units on the Russian-Ukrainian border provides an opportunity for the deployment of large-scale military operations, but do not mean that such actions are in the Kremlin's plans.

"The result of the Ukrainian crisis was that Russia and NATO entered a new cold war.

And, in general, it is quite possible that the creation of this infrastructure in the West is aimed at preparing not for a war with Ukraine, but for something more widespread - preparations for a possible confrontation with NATO, "the expert believes..

As previously reported, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov stated that Russia can launch large-scale military operations against Ukraine on orders from the Kremlin at any moment.
