With a slight margin of 309 votes against 305 members of the House of Commons on Thursday, December 14, voted the right of veto in the decision on Brexit. Thus, now, according to the adopted document, the treaty on the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union must first be approved by the Parliament.

At the same time, some of the deputies of the parliament from the Conservative Party headed by the prime minister voted for the law, thus opposing it, because they could not convince her.

According to experts, this decision will seriously weaken the position of British Prime Minister Therese May before the next round of talks on Brexit, which will begin in Brussels on Friday.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, in Brussels on December 15 will host a summit of the European Union. On it, Teresa May, together with other heads of state and government of the EU countries, should decide whether the second phase of negotiations on Brexit can officially begin, within the framework of which it is planned to discuss issues of future trade relations between the parties. Earlier, London and Brussels announced that they had reached agreements on a number of issues, without which the second phase of the dialogue could not begin.
