Recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel will not affect the documents of the State Department

According to US Assistant Secretary of State David Sutterfield, as long as there are no changes in regard to consular practice or the issue of passports.

He also noted that the citizens of the USA who were born on the territory of Jerusalem will not have a "Jerusalem, Israel" in their passport, but simply "Jerusalem", as before.



In this case, Trump's decision will not affect the US government maps either - Jerusalem will not be designated for them either, as the territory belonging to Israel.

"We do not change our point of view and take positions on the borders of sovereignty in Jerusalem, including concerning geographical borders," Sutherfield added..

As previously reported, URA-Inform, German Chancellor Angela Merkel did not support the decision of US President Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
