Ukraine will not change the "language article" of the new "Law on Education", but some provisions of the document may be delayed.

This was stated by Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andrei Parubiy during a meeting with the President of the World Congress of Ukrainians Evgeny Choliy, the press service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

"In matters of language, we will not make any compromises, we will stand firm and will not change the seventh article of the law" On Education ".

For hundreds of years, Ukraine has been russified, so in the matter of language, the issue of national identity, we will not make any concessions, "said the Ukrainian speaker.

According to him, ignorance of the Ukrainian language is discrimination against Ukrainians, their right to work, restriction of the right to study and prospects in Ukraine.

At the same time, Parubius stressed that the law can be amended by introducing in the law on secondary education provisions on the extension of the transition period for the study of minority languages, the postponement of the enactment of the law on education and the like.
