The Constitutional Court began to examine the constitutionality of the law on decommunization ("On the condemnation of the communist and national-socialist (nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and the prohibition of propaganda of their symbols").

This was reported by acting head of the court Viktor Krivenko, - reports "Left Bank" referring to "Ukrainian News".

At the meeting there are 14 judges. None of the judges did not withdraw.

The examination takes place in the form of a written production.

"I declare open the plenary meeting of the Grand Chamber of the Constitutional Court," said Krivenko.

The judge-rapporteur in the case is Victor Kolisnyk.

Recall, in May, 46 MPs appealed the law on decommunization in the COP. The initiators of the presentation were the deputies from the "Opposition bloc".

The Verkhovna Rada passed a law condemning the communist and Nazi totalitarian regimes, banned their propaganda and symbolism on April 9, 2015. The law prohibits the public use of the symbols of such regimes, establishes the obligation to rename settlements, objects of toponymy, organizations and trademarks.

Within the decommunization in Ukraine, over a thousand settlements and more than 51 thousand streets, squares, squares (as of the end of 2016) were renamed,. Also, 2389 monuments and commemorative signs were dismantled, including 1320 - installed in honor of Lenin.
