UN adopted a resolution on the truce for the Olympics between South Korea and the DPRK

Relevant information became known from the website of the International Olympic Committee.

It is noteworthy that the consensus on the truce concerns South Korea and the DPRK, as well as future host countries of the Olympics - Japan, France, the United States and China. In addition, the head of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, expressed gratitude to the United Nations for the adoption of this resolution.

The delegates of the General Assembly called on the head of the UN and the chairman of the UN General Assembly to promote observance of the "Olympic Truce" between the member states.

The adopted resolution is called "Sport for the benefit of peace and development: the establishment of peace and the building of a happier life on the planet through sport and the embodiment of the Olympic ideals".

It notes that the UN flag will be raised at the Olympic Stadium and in the Olympic villages of the XXIII Winter Olympic Games and the XII Winter Paralympic Games.

The Olympics will be held from 9 to 25 February 2018 in the city of Pyeongchang in the Republic of Korea.

As previously reported, "URA-Inform", the Third Committee of the General Assembly of the United Nations will vote on the resolution "The situation with human rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine". To date, 40 countries have already joined the co-sponsors of the draft resolution.
