US investigators found out the name of a woman who introduced herself to former adviser of US President Donald Trump George Papadopoulos "a relative of Vladimir Putin". This is reported by Politico with reference to sources.

According to the publication, the woman's name is Olga Vinogradova. Interlocutors Politico note that Papadopoulos mentioned her name in electronic correspondence last spring.

Investigators have not yet been able to establish who Vinogradova worked for, whether she used the pseudonym and where she lives. In court documents Vinogradova is described only as a "woman of Russian nationality".

In late October, from published documents of the office of US Attorney General Robert Mueller, who is investigating the alleged interference of Russia in the election of the American president, it became known that Papadopoulos met with a Russian woman who introduced herself as "a relative of Vladimir Putin" in the spring of 2016. The goal of the meeting was to try and arrange a meeting between Trump and Putin to discuss Russia's relations with the United States if Trump was elected.

A meeting between Papadopoulos and a Russian woman was organized by a London professor whose name was not called.

Later The Telegraph reported that it was the honorary director of the London Diplomatic Academy, Joseph Mifsud. As a result, Papadopoulos learned that the Russian woman is not a relative of the Russian president. Investigators check Olga Vinogradova's connection with Mifsud.

Earlier, Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to false allegations of the FBI about his contacts with foreign nationals. The New York Times reported that he gave false testimony about a meeting with a professor who had connections with Kremlin officials.
