German Chancellor Angela Merkel (Angela Merkel) supported the energetic reforms proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron in the European Union. The speech Macron, delivered on September 26 in the Sorbonne, and the speech of the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, Merkel called important milestones on the way to further development of the EU and the euro area.

"I firmly believe that Europe can not just be tagged on the spot," the head of the German government said during an informal dinner of EU heads of state and government in Tallinn on Thursday, September 28.

Commenting on the speech of Emmanuel Macron, Merkel noted with satisfaction the great similarity in the positions of Germany and France, noting, however, that "further details should be discussed". The Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany evaluated the initiatives of the Macron to harmonize taxation of enterprises and reform of bankruptcy legislation.

In his Sept. 28 speech, Emmanuel Macron proposed the conclusion of a kind of new Elysee Treaty that would lay the foundation for the modern German-French market.
