The Security Council is concerned about the Kurdish referendum

The referendum is being prepared for September 25, but the Security Council is confident that militants can impede its conduct.

Also in the community they recalled that the Kurds make up key strike forces in the fight against the "Islamic state".

A referendum may interfere with efforts to ensure the voluntary return to Iraq of more than 3 million refugees.

The UN stressed that they always adhered to the principle that a nation has the right to self-determination, but all procedures must be strictly coordinated in the central authority of Baghdad.

As reported in the "URA-Inform", recently the parliament of Iraqi Kurdistan for launching a referendum on creating autonomy inside Iraq.
