During the conversation, the Russian president stated that he was ready to supplement the proposed in the Russian draft resolution of the Security Council with the functions of the said mission of the United Nations, taking into account "the views expressed by Angela Merkel," thus changing her initial opinion on the stay of the UN peacekeeping force in the Donbass.

According to the press service of the Kremlin, Putin had in mind that ensuring the protection of OSCE monitors by UN members can be carried out not only on the contact line after the expansion of the forces and assets of both sides, but also in other places where the OSCE mission conducts its inspection trips in accordance with the Minsk complex measures.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, September 5, Vladimir Putin spoke for UN peacekeepers in the Donbass under certain conditions, in particular, they should only be on the line of demarcation.
