On August 12, authorities in Charlottesville, Virginia, authorized a rally of white supremacists as a protest against the decision of the city authorities to dismantle the statue of General Robert Lee, the leader of the Confederates of the Civil War in the United States, 1861-1865.

However, the rally was canceled after the Governor of Virginia State Terry McAuliffe declared a state of emergency after hundreds of thousands of white supremacists of the white race met their opponents in Charlottesville on the morning of August 12.

On Saturday morning, the car at high speed drove into the crowd of supporters of the demolition of the monument, as a result of which one person was killed, and many were injured, and then reversed and left in an unknown direction. Among those who gathered in Charlottesville, for the rally, were members of the Clu-Kluks Clan organization, extreme right-wing militants and extreme right-wing activists, whose views are a combination of racism, white nationalism and populism.

The Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Alleviation Center that track extremist groups in the United States stated that the rally has the potential to be the largest of its kind in at least a decade.

Earlier right-wing blogger Jason Kessler said he planned a procession "for whites" in protest against the decision to dismantle a monument to General Confederation Robert Lee, installed in the city park of Charlottesville.

Clashes occurred on Friday, when hundreds of white nationalists staged a torchlight march on the campus of the University of Virginia. A representative of the university said that several people were injured, one - arrested.

US President Donald Trump urged people in the United States to unite after the clashes in Virginia that occurred in the city of Charlottesville on the eve of a planned rally of white supremacists. In his Twitter message, Trump said: "We all must unite and condemn everything that embodies hatred. In America there is no place for violence. Let's go together as one! ".

The governor of the US state of Virginia, where the second day are the protests of the ultra-right and their opponents, called the instigators of the clashes to go home.

It is reported that one woman was killed and at least 19 people were injured as a result of the incident in the city of Charlottesville. According to the latest data, the car drove into the crowd of those who opposed the ultra-right rally.

The police arrested 20-year-old James Fields, who, presumably, was driving a car. He is charged with murder of the second degree.

According to the police, another 15 people were injured in clashes in other parts of the city.

Also on Saturday in the outskirts of Charlottesville crashed police helicopter, killing two people.

It is not known yet whether the crash is connected with the clashes in the city.

In several districts of the city a state of emergency was introduced.

"I want to appeal to all the supporters of the superiority of the white race and the Nazis, who today came to Charlottesville. Our appeal is clear and simple: go home. This society does not accept you. Shame on you. You are building patriots, although in fact you are anyone, but not patriots, "said the head of state, Terry McAuliffe, at a press conference.
