The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine sent a note to Russian colleagues in connection with Moscow's unilateral decision to limit the movement of vessels across the Kerch Strait.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses its protest in connection with the introduction by the Russian Federation of the prohibition of navigation through the Kerch Strait during August and September 2017, connected with the construction of the bridge, and once again underscores the illegality of such actions," reads the comments of the Foreign Ministry.
Kiev recalled that the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait is illegal in accordance with international law.
In June, it became known about the preparation by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation of the draft order on the closure of the Kerch Strait in the water area of ??its navigable part of the Kerch-Yenikal Canal for 23 days in August-September 2017 for arches of the bridge.
Recall that Russia banned the movement of all ships and ships, with the exception of ships and vessels of the Russian Navy, ships and vessels of the federal security agencies of the Russian Federation, as well as vessels involved in the construction of the Kerch bridge.
In turn, Ukraine is preparing a lawsuit against the Russian Federation in connection with the losses of ports due to the Kerch bridge.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure has filed a complaint with the International Maritime Organization.
